“I lift up my eyes to the hills. …” – This is vigilance.

“… From whence does my help come? – This is humility.

My help comes from the LORD, …” – This is trust in God.

“… who made heaven and earth. – This is creationism.

He will not let your foot be moved, … – This is courage to face the dangers of the journey.

“… He who keeps you will not slumber. – This is constant divine protection.

Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. – This is hope for deliverance at any hour.

The LORD is your keeper; …– This is having God as your protector.

“… the LORD is your shade on your right hand. – This is walking with God.

The sun shall not smite you by day, nor the moon by night. – This is living without fear of facing the scorching trials and the beautiful temptations of this world.

The LORD will keep you from all evil; … – This is waiting for the victory that comes from God.

“… He will keep your life.” – This is living without fear of death.

The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in … – This is being protected in departure and in arrival.

“… from this time forth and for evermore.” – This is being watched over by God, in the present and in the future.
